2. Overview of data processing

This website provides information about the book “The Boomer Gets It”. It has no user accounts, forms, comments, newsletter or ordering function of its own. There are no local input fields that transmit data to the operator or a server. External fonts, videos, maps, iframes, social media plugins and advertising networks are not loaded automatically.

Personal data are processed only where necessary to provide and secure the website or to respond to a contact request initiated by you. No automated decision-making or profiling takes place.

3. Web hosting and server logs

The website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany (“IONOS”). As hosting provider, IONOS processes data generated when delivering the website. According to IONOS’s current information, the following visitor data are collected and anonymised immediately:

• the previously visited website (referrer), if supplied by the browser
• the page or file requested
• browser type and version
• operating system and device type
• time of access
• IP address in anonymised form to determine the location of access

Processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests are the secure, stable and technically reliable provision of the website. IONOS states that visitor data are retained for eight weeks. According to IONOS, these web-hosting data are not disclosed to third parties or transferred outside the European Union.

4. IONOS WebAnalytics

IONOS web hosting includes the cookieless “WebAnalytics” service, which is active by default. Statistics are generated from server logs or a counter pixel provided by the hosting provider. This website does not embed analytics scripts from an external third party.

For this purpose IONOS processes the referrer, requested page or file, browser type and version, operating system, device type, access time and IP address. According to IONOS, the IP address is anonymised immediately after transmission and is then processed without personal reference. The evaluation is used solely for statistical analysis and technical optimisation of the website. IONOS does not use cookies for this purpose and does not disclose the data to third parties. Anonymised statistical reports can be displayed in the IONOS customer area for periods within the last twelve months.

The legal basis for processing required before immediate anonymisation is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the statistical evaluation and technical optimisation of this website.

5. Cookies, browser storage and JavaScript

According to the current technical audit, the website does not set cookies and uses neither localStorage, sessionStorage nor IndexedDB. No service worker is registered and no device identifiers or voice IDs are stored. No consent-management platform or cookie banner is therefore required.

The browser may cache static files such as images, stylesheets and JavaScript in accordance with the HTTP cache headers. This technically necessary storage serves only to display the expressly requested service quickly and correctly. It is covered by Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG and does not require consent. You can clear the browser cache at any time in your browser settings.

JavaScript is used solely for mobile navigation, showing the current year and subtle presentation effects. It does not transmit data to the operator or third parties. Essential content remains accessible without JavaScript.

6. External links to Amazon

The website contains clearly marked links to the books’ product pages on Amazon.com. Merely visiting this website does not establish a connection to Amazon. Only after you click such a link do you leave this website and your browser connects directly to Amazon. From that point onward, Amazon processes data under its own responsibility and in accordance with its own privacy information.

The links use rel="noopener noreferrer" and referrerpolicy="no-referrer". As far as supported by the browser, this prevents transmission of the address of the previously visited page.

7. Contact by email or telephone

If you contact us by email or telephone, we process the information you provide, in particular your contact details, the content of your message and any relevant contract or order information, solely to handle your request.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the appropriate handling of enquiries. Where the contact concerns the initiation or performance of a contract, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. The data are deleted once the enquiry has been conclusively dealt with and no statutory retention obligation or legitimate interest requires continued storage.

The email mailbox is provided by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany, as a technical service provider. When an email is sent, STRATO processes the message and connection data required for transport and storage within the commissioned email service.

8. SSL/TLS encryption

This website uses SSL/TLS encryption. This protects the content you retrieve against unauthorised interception during transmission. An encrypted connection is indicated by “https://” in the browser’s address bar.

9. Your rights

Where the respective legal conditions are met, you have in particular the following rights:

• access to personal data processed about you (Article 15 GDPR)
• rectification of inaccurate data (Article 16 GDPR)
• erasure (Article 17 GDPR)
• restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR)
• data portability (Article 20 GDPR)

If processing is exceptionally based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your rights, an informal message to the contact details above is sufficient. Under Article 77 GDPR you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
